New ‘Hellraiser’ Movie Will Have A Female Version Of Pinhead Played By Jamie Clayton

Nia DaCosta’s recent release of the Candyman soft-reboot proved that not all horror remakes/re-imaginings are created equal, some can actually improve upon the original. However, we get plenty of examples of films that just shouldn’t exist and because of this, it’s tough to gauge which projects will ultimately be great.

A new Hellraiser movie is on the way at Spyglass Media Group and in a press release via The Playlist that their new horror flick, directed by David Bruckner, is heading to Hulu. Mentioned in the casting list, Jamie Clayton will be playing a female incarnation of the beloved horror iconic Pinhead.

Also, Clive Barker has joined the film as an executive producer.

According to Spyglass and Hulu, the “loyal, yet evolved re-imagining” of “Hellraiser” stars Odessa A’zion (“Grand Army”) in the lead role opposite Jamie Clayton (“Sense8”) as the iconic Pinhead. Yes, it appears Pinhead is getting a major makeover with Clayton taking on the role and putting a new spin on the legendary horror baddie. The supporting cast includes Brandon Flynn (“13 Reasons Why”), Goran Visnjic (“The Boys”), Drew Starkey (“Love, Simon”), Adam Faison (“Everything’s Gonna Be Okay”), Aoife Hinds (“Normal People”), and Hiam Abbass (“Succession”). In addition, “Hellraiser” creator and filmmaker, Clive Barker, has joined the project as an executive producer.

The Illuminerdi first reported on the casting of Odessa A’zion.

Some other installments of established horror franchises on the horizon include Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City, Scream 5, a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film heading to Netflix, and lost-gesting reboot of Friday The 13th.

HELLRAISER – Sexual deviant Frank (Sean Chapman) inadvertently opens a portal to hell when he tinkers with a box he bought while abroad. The act unleashes gruesome beings called Cenobites, who tear Frank’s body apart. When Frank’s brother (Andrew Robinson) and his wife, Julia (Clare Higgins), move into Frank’s old house, they accidentally bring what is left of Frank back to life. Frank then convinces Julia, his one-time lover, to lure men back to the house so he can use their blood to reconstruct himself.

Robert Rodriguez is working on yet another new project!

Robert attempted a soft-reboot of sorts with Spy Kids: All The Time In The World but Carmen and Juni still appeared connecting it to the previous three movies, it’s unknown if this will be another hard-reboot or expansion simply with a new family/kids.

Rodriguez is also working on is the Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett, a spinoff set in The Mandalorian timeline starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen that is said to be currently filming California for debut on Disney+ in December 2021. ‘Scream 5’ Officially Wraps and First Look At Returning Cast

Scream co-creator and screenwriter Kevin Williamson has posted on his Twitter account that they’ve completed filming on Scream 5 including an image of himself with franchise stars Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox.

Scream 5 is going to be a soft-reboot as we’ll see the return of main characters that will usher-in a new generation for the franchise, hopefully, that they’ll be making it a tradition to make a film every couple of years.

New additions to the cast include Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Marley Shelton, and Mikey Madison.

Ready or Not’s Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing from a script penned by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

Filming had been taking place in North Carolina and notoriously had multiple positive COVID-19 tests on set without pausing production.

The next installment is set to be released on January 14th, 2022.

Neve Campbell Finally Confirmed For ‘Scream 5’ Return and Other Cast Members Announced

Back in May, Scream franchise actress Neve Campbell confirmed talks with Spyglass Media for a return to the Sidney Prescott role in Scream 5.

That interview was then deleted from YouTube and it was all but assumed that Campbell would be back after it was announced that original cast members David Arquette and Courtney Cox were returning for what looks to be a continuation of the satirical horror franchise.

Yesterday, Bloody Disgusting was finally able to confirm Neve’s return.

She’ll be joining a cast that also includes Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Marley Shelton, and Mikey Madison.

Ready or Not’s Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing from a script penned by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

The original film from Wes Craven followed Sidney Prescott and her group of high school friends as a killer “Ghostface” is going around town killing students which leads to Cox’s tabloid reporter Gale Weathers to return to the town after writing a sleazy tell-all-book about the murder of Sidney’s mother. Craven’s take on the slasher was to be more of a send-up/satire of the genre itself and harped on the troupes as rules to stay alive.

I wouldn’t hold out any hope that the original characters will survive the new installment.

The horror pic will be released on January 14th, 2022 by Paramount Pictures.

‘Scream 5’ Adds ‘The Boys’ Actor Jack Quaid – Releases January 2022

Variety has reported another new addition to the cast of Scream 5, as they’ve added Jack Quaid in an undisclosed role. Jack is best known for playing the comic book character Hughie Campbell in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, which will see it’s second season drop on September 4th.

Scream 5 is being called a reboot by certain trades but the title and returning cast would suggest it’s more of a continuation, if anything.

Officially, Courtney Cox and David Arquette will reprise their roles of reporter Gale Weathers and Sheriff Dewey Cox. Jack joins fellow new additions Melissa Barrera (In the Heights) and Jenna Ortega (Jane The Virgin).

Actress Neve Campbell confirmed talks for her return to play Sidney Prescott before that interview was ultimately deleted from YouTube. Her name has been absent from these casting reports, but it’s likely she’ll sign on.

It’s expected that this new film will continue the cheeky tradition of being a satire.

I know my first thought is that Jack is more or less either going to play the killer or the stand-in for Jamie Kennedy’s video store character Randy.

The horror pic will be released on January 14th, 2022 by Paramount Pictures.
