Nosferatu: Aaron Taylor-Johnson & Ralph Ineson Join Robert Eggers’ Vampire Flick

Filmmaker Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse) has been trying to get his vampire film Nosferatu off the ground for a while now and it’s now currently in production in Prague with the names of the cast tricklingly out slowly. A lovely bit of casting for the period horror film was just revealed by Deadline as Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train, Outlaw King, Tenet) has been tapped for an undisclosed part in the remake of the classic 1922 German silent film. He’s also set for a second Marvel Comics role with the Sony film Kraven The Hunter, after playing the MCU version of Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. One his more interesting parts was playing John Lennon in the biopic Nowhere Boy and sort of got on everyone’s radar after the R-rated comic book flick Kick-Ass.

Yorkshire actor Ralph Ineson (The Green Knight, Game of Thrones) is also said to have a role making this the third project he’s worked with Eggers. Ineson had a major role in The Witch, playing the family’s patriarch that leads them from their established community to build a life in the middle of the forest. He also shows up in The Northman in a small cameo towards the film’s climax.

The pair join a cast that consists of Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, and Simon McBurney.

In the town of Wisbourg, estate agent Mr. Knock is pleased to receive a commission from Count Orlok to find a house for him. He dispatches his young assistant, Hutter, to Orlok’s castle in the far off Carpathians. He tells Hutter to get him to buy the vacant house just opposite Hutter’s own. Hutter arrives at his destination safely and the Count is all too eager to buy the proposed property especially after he sees a photo of Hutter’s pretty young wife Ellen. Hutter soon realizes the evil he’s dealing with and is locked away while Orlok makes his way by ship to Wisbourg. As Orlok travels to Wisbourg, plague descends in his wake and the people of Wisbourg begin to sense the coming of evil. Hutter eventually escapes Orlok’s castle determined to return home as quickly as possible but exhausted and ill, finds himself in hospital. Hutter nonetheless arrives home the same day as Orlok and the townsfolk begin to panic over the increasing number of deaths.

Emma Corrin Latest Addition To Robert Eggers’ Vampire Flick ‘Nosferatu’

British actress Emma Corrin (The Crown) was just revealed as taking a villain role in Marvel’s Deadpool 3 and they’ve also lined-up a rather exciting project alongside the MCU film. Deadline in their report about landing the MCU part, also mentions Corrin quietly landed another mystery part in Robert Eggers‘ remake of the classic 1922 silent horror film Nosferatu that features a vampire at the center of the story. Corrin joins an established cast that features Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard, Nicholas Hoult, and Willem Dafoe. At one point, Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles had been eyed for lead roles before others ultimately filled their parts.

Eggers is likely best known for his debut feature The Witch that first introduced us to Taylor-Joy. He’s also released follow-up genre projects such as the maritime thriller The Lighthouse and the Viking revenge epic The Northman. Focus Features has yet to give a release date for Nosferatu while production is currently taking place in Prague.

Anya Taylor-Joy To Shoot ‘Furiosa’ In 2022 & Eventually Make Robert Eggers’ Long-Gestating Vampire Flick ‘Nosferatu’

Anya Taylor-Joy (Last Night In Soho) finished an epic Viking film, The Northman, for director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse) after previously working with him on The Witch. There are some interesting updates on what projects she’ll be making in the next couple of years.

The Los Angeles Time has outlined her filming schedule revealing that The Menu is next with George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa shooting in 2022 (set to shoot at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney), and highlight that Robert Eggers’ remake of the classic silent vampire movie Nosferatu (Anya Taylor-Joy attached since 2017) will finally move forward.

Right now, Taylor-Joy, 25, seems to be everyone’s kind of girl. Her schedule is booked solid for the next 2½ years, starting soon with “The Menu,” a dark comedy set in the world of exotic culinary culture directed by Mark Mylod (“Succession”) and then moving next year to “Furiosa,” George Miller’s prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road.” After that, she’ll reunite with “Queen’s Gambit” writer-director Scott Frank for the thriller “Laughter in the Dark” and Eggers again in a reworking of the vampire classic “Nosferatu,” the latest collaboration in a partnership that began with her first “real film,” the unnerving 2016 horror movie “The Witch.”

This would be the third time working with Eggers and bring her back to the horror genre.

NOSFERATU – In this highly influential silent horror film, the mysterious Count Orlok (Max Schreck) summons Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) to his remote Transylvanian castle in the mountains. The eerie Orlok seeks to buy a house near Hutter and his wife, Ellen (Greta Schroeder). After Orlok reveals his vampire nature, Hutter struggles to escape the castle, knowing that Ellen is in grave danger. Meanwhile Orlok’s servant, Knock (Alexander Granach), prepares for his master to arrive at his new home.

The Northman is set for release on April 8, 2022 and Furiosa is coming out June 22, 2023.
