TRAILER: Disney Releases First Footage For Transformation Flick ‘Turning Red’ Teases Canadian Setting; Coming March 2022

Today, Pixar and Disney have released the first teaser trailer for their very next big feature film release. Apparently, won’t be dumped on Disney+ like Soul or Luca. Directed by Chinese-Canadian director Domee Shi, who won an Oscar for the Pixar short Bao, it focuses on a young teenage girl Mei Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang), who turns into a giant red panda when too excited.

It’s interesting that there are some clues to this potentially being a Pixar film that is set in Canada, mainly, because Mei is sporting a Canadian flag shirt in one scene and has a Canadian pin on her backpack. Worth pointing out the panda and logo are also using the Canadian flag colors. You can also see the CN Tower at one point which means this takes place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Yippie!

Canadian actress Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) voices Mei’s mother as well.

TURNING RED – Growing up is a beast. Check out the new trailer for the upcoming all-new original feature film “Turning Red” from Pixar Animation Studios’ director Domee Shi, who won an Oscar® for her 2018 short film, “Bao.” Young actress Rosalie Chiang lends her voice to Mei Lee, a 13-year-old who suddenly “poofs” into a giant red panda when she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS). Sandra Oh voices Mei Lee’s protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. Directed by Shi and produced by Lindsey Collins, Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” releases March 11, 2022.

Marvel Releases First Teaser Trailer For Chloe Zhao’s ‘Eternals’

This morning Marvel Studios has unleashed the first teaser trailer for their next budding franchise, Eternals. The newest film in Phase 4 is going focus on a group of cosmic beings created by comic book powerhouse creative and artist Jack Kirby, who are tasked by the Celestials to protect Earth from The Deviants and are endowed with god-like superpowers/longevity.

The first footage was teased not too long ago but with the teaser we finally have a better sense of the world created by director/co-writer Chloe Zhao, who recently won Best Picture and Best Director for the movie Nomadland. It’s use of a exterior locations and practical sets seems to be something fresh but we’ll have to wait a little longer to see the foes, The Deviants it seems.

Eternals originally was supposed to be released in November of last year but was bumped to November 5, 2021 due to the pandemic and multiple other MCU films shifting their spots on the Disney schedule.

You can watch the new footage below.

The cast of Eternals consists of Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Kumail Nanjani as Kingo, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Jashaun St. John in an undisclosed role.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has stated previously that Chan’s Sersi is the film’s lead which makes sense as there has been talk of a love triangle between her, Madden’s Ikaris and Harington’s Dane Whtiman aka Black Knight.

Despite being protectors of Earth it seems odd that they would have only now revealed themselves given past events like the Battle for New York and Thanos. Interestingly enough, Thanos’ father and brother happen to Eternals from the planet Titan and could have ties to the new superhero team or at least have their connections explored at some point. The film could also help introduce other Marvel elements such as the sinking of Namor’s Atlantis via The Great Cataclysm and having the Celestials behind the mutant gene being added to early humans that will later lead to the X-Men/Mutants.

Zeus and The Olympians are also going to be introduced in Thor: Love & Thunder, according to Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, revealing he’ll be playing Zeus in the film as production is still taking place in Australia. The Olympians and Eternals have had conflict in the comics and we could see the two MCU cosmic teams go head-to-head in sequels.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the studio has already spoken with Zhao about overseeing multiple films and securing her involvement as the filmmaker originally pitched the project to them after losing out on the Black Widow directing gig to Cate Shortland. Zhao could end up being the next James Gunn for the new Marvel franchise.

Marvel also dropped this lovely teaser poster.

TRAILER: Jason Statham Plays Yet Another Badass In Guy Ritchie’s Heist Thriller ‘Wrath of Man’

MGM has released the first-look trailer for Wrath of Man, the English remake of the French film Le Convoyeur from director Guy Ritchie and led by action star Jason Statham. The pair haven’t worked together since 2005’s Revolver.

Wrath of Man’s cast also includes Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonzo, Raúl Castillo, Deobia Oparei, Eddie Marsan, and Scott Eastwood. From the trailer it seems to be more of a straight action film rather than a gangster comedy with action elements, something that has been Ritchie’s calling card since Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.

Guy and Jason are already filming a second project with the spy film, Five Eyes, currently in production.

MGM has swooped-in to take the vacant spot on May 7, 2021 for Wrath of Man after Disney moved Black Widow to a hybrid release on July 9, 2021.

A mysterious and wild-eyed new cash truck security guard (Jason Statham) surprises his coworkers during a heist in which he unexpectedly unleashes precision skills. The crew is left wondering who he is and where he came from. Soon, the marksman’s ultimate motive becomes clear as he takes dramatic and irrevocable steps to settle a score.

Things Go Off The Rails In Red-Band Trailer For ‘The Suicide Squad’ – Confirms Starro

Yesterday, director James Gunn teased that a trailer for his DC Comics film The Suicide Squad would get it’s first trailer released and today is the day!

It confirms that mind-controlling cosmic villain Starro is indeed in the film (something that was revealed over the summer) and that Sly Stallone is voicing King Shark.

You can check out that first trailer below.

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.

The film stars Margot Robbie (“Birds of Prey,” “Bombshell”), Idris Elba (“Avengers: Infinity War”), John Cena (upcoming HBO Max series “Peacemaker,” “Bumblebee”), Joel Kinnaman (“Suicide Squad”), Jai Courtney (the “Divergent” franchise), Peter Capaldi (“World War Z,” BBC’s “Doctor Who” ), David Dastmalchian (upcoming “Dune,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp”), Daniela Melchior (“Parque Mayer”), Michael Rooker (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films), Alice Braga (“Elysium”), Pete Davidson (“The King of Staten Island,” TV’s “Saturday Night Live”), Joaquín Cosio (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” TV’s “Narcos: Mexico”), Juan Diego Botto (“The Europeans”), Storm Reid (“The Invisible Man,” “A Wrinkle in Time”, “Euphoria”), Nathan Fillion (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” TV’s “The Rookie”), Steve Agee (“Brightburn,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”), Sean Gunn (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, the “Avengers” films), Mayling Ng (“Wonder Woman”), Flula Borg (“Ralph Breaks the Internet”), Jennifer Holland (“Brightburn,” upcoming HBO Max series “Peacemaker”) and Tinashe Kajese (TV’s “Valor,” “The Inspectors”), with Sylvester Stallone (the “Rocky,” “Rambo” and “Expendables” franchises), and Viola Davis (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Suicide Squad”).

Gunn (the “Guardian of the Galaxy” films) directs from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC. The film is produced by Charles Roven and Peter Safran, with Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo, Nikolas Korda and Richard Suckle executive producing.

Gunn’s creative team includes director of photography Henry Braham (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”), production designer Beth Mickle (“Captain Marvel”), editors Fred Raskin (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood”) and Christian Wagner (the “Fast & Furious” films) and Oscar-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”). The music is by John Murphy (“Kick-Ass”).

As mentioned above The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6, 2021 on both HBO Max and in theaters.
