Marvel’s Kevin Feige Comments On Possibility of Bringing Back Netflix Shows – “Perhaps Someday”

Deadline was able to transcribe quotes from Marvel’s Kevin Feige at Disney+ virtual panel at TCA press tour, the company’s chief creative officers talked about the possibility of the Netflix shows finding a second life. While he pointed out that some online rumors are completely wrong he sounds open to the idea down the line.

FEIGE: “I think we probably could do it, I think a lot of that stuff comes back to us. There’s always rumors online about things reverting, sometimes that’s true, sometimes it’s not, but I’m not exactly sure of the exact contracts but perhaps someday.”

You might remember that Feige took over Marvel Television after the exit of Jeph Loeb and re-branded the division as Marvel TV Studios with Kevin overseeing the shows under the same umbrella as the feature films. The Netflix shows included Daredevil, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. We currently don’t have any official word on the fate of those characters and if they’ll be heading to the MCU anytime soon.

Jessica Henwick also revealed Marvel Television had been considering a Daughters of The Dragon spinoff and a Ghost Rider series was killed in development stages.

There have been plenty of rumors about character rivals and shows carrying-over but none of that has actually been made official. Feige’s comments here does suggest there might be some truth behind some of them, but what they are he isn’t sharing.

Disney+’s mature section Star could give Marvel Studios a home for more graphic characters.

HBO & George R.R. Martin Teaming For Series Adaptation of Sci-Fi Novel ‘Roadmarks’

Game of Thrones franchise creator/author George R.R. Martin is developing a new series at HBO according to Deadline. The outlet is reporting that he’ll executive produce a series adaptation of Roger Zelazny’s Roadmarks with Kalinda Vazquez (Fear The Walking Dead, Star Trek: Discovery) set to write, showrun, and executive produce the series.

The Road runs from the unimaginable past to the far future, and those who travel it have access to the turnoffs leading to all times and places–even to the alternate time-streams of histories that never happened. Why the Dragons of Bel’kwinith made the Road–or who they are–no one knows. But the Road has always been there and for those who know how to find it, it always will be!

Switching gears from fantasy to sci-fi isn’t much of a stretch for George as one of his novels, Nightflyers, was adapted into a feature film and recent television series, neither were terribly successful but it’ll be interesting to see where this one goes.

Martin is also behind a whole wave of Game of Thrones spinoffs including House of The Dragon, Tales of Dunk & Egg, and an animated project that is in development.

‘Constantine’ Getting Dark HBO Max Series Reboot From J.J. Abrams & Bad Robot

After it was previously announced that J.J. Abrams and his production company Bad Robot would be working on a Justice League Dark series, there is word from Deadline that he’ll also be working on a new Constantine series reboot that will be written by Guy Bolton based on the occult DC Comics character. Bolton is said to be prepping to open a writers’ room next month.

The report stating the new version will skew darker than the previous series. Matt Ryan most recently played John after the Keanu Reeves film released back in 2005, they are reportedly seeking a diverse young actor to play the new version.

This is part of the overall deal that Bad Robot has with WarnerMedia. Abrams is also a producer on HBO’s Lovecraft Country and Westworld.

It’ll be interesting to see if this project will directly connect to that Justice League Dark show in development given that John Constantine is a key character on that team. Justice League Dark originally was put together as film for Guillermo del Toro before the studio attempted to give to other directors before deciding to turn it into a series instead.

CONSTANTINE – As a suicide survivor, demon hunter John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has literally been to hell and back — and he knows that when he dies, he’s got a one-way ticket to Satan’s realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God’s stairway to heaven. While helping policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) investigate her identical twin’s apparent suicide, Constantine becomes caught up in a supernatural plot involving both demonic and angelic forces. Based on the DC/Vertigo “Hellblazer” comics.

‘The Falcon & The Winter Soldier’: Erin Kellyman Is Playing A Female Version of Captain America Villain Flag-Smasher

Some merch spotted by Comic Book Movie has revealed that Erin Kellyman’s character in The Falcon & The Winter Soldier is Karli Morgenthau, a young female incarnation of Captain America villain Flag-Smasher.

Morgenthau was the leader of an anti-nationalist organization known as ULTIMATUM (Underground Liberated Totally Integrated Mobile Army to Unite Mankind) in the source material, and while Karli is sporting a very different costume, it looks like she will take on a similar role in the Disney+ series.

Karli is seemingly in league with Baron Zemo’s plot to end superheroes and as set photos have revealed will likely have some interactions with George St. Pierre’s Batroc The Leaper.

The Falcon & The Winter Soldier begins airing on Disney+ starting March 19th.

CBS Orders A ‘True Lies’ Series Pilot With James Cameron Producing & McG Directing

A while back director McG (Terminator Salvation) revealed to Collider during a video podcast interview that he was working on a True Lies series, potentially for Disney+. However, that doesn’t seem to come together as CBS has nabbed the project giving it a pilot order with James Cameron executive producing, McG set to direct it’s pilot, Matt Nix writing the script, and Disney’s 20th Television will be still involved as well.

The update on the project coming from The Hollywood Reporter.

Instead of a direct sequel, it is starting to look like a reboot of sorts as stated in the article. The original 1994 release written and directed by James Cameron is actually a remake of the 1991 French film La Totale!.

Shocked to discover that her bland and unremarkable computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy, an unfulfilled suburban housewife is propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.

Rebooting isn’t all that shocking as CBS is already airing reboot series such as The Equalizer and Clarice.

They’ll have to knock it out of the park with the casting as scaling-back the action for a network television budget likely isn’t going to woo fans of the original film that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis, the latter getting multiple scene-stealing moments in the action-comedy. I remember seeing the film at the drive-in during the summer of 1994 and was one of my best movie-going experiences at the time.

Speaking of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor is currently busy with his own untitled spy series for Skydance and Netflix that will focus on a father-daughter dynamic with Top Gun: Maverick’s Monica Barbaro in the daughter role.

McG recently worked on the Disney+ series reboot of Turner & Hooch.

TRUE LIES – Secretly a spy but thought by his family to be a dull salesman, Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is tracking down nuclear missiles in the possession of Islamic jihadist Aziz (Art Malik). Harry’s mission is complicated when he realizes his neglected wife, Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis), is contemplating an affair with Simon (Bill Paxton), a used-car salesman who claims he’s a spy. When Aziz kidnaps Harry and Helen, the secret agent must save the world and patch up his marriage at the same time.

‘House of The Dragon’: Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Rhys Ifans & Sonoya Mizuno Join The ‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Series

WarnerMedia has announced today four new cast members have joined their Game of Thrones prequel spinoff series, titled House of The Dragon.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, the series will tell the story of House Targaryen (a.k.a. the House that gave us the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen) and take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon aka “The Sea Snake.” The lord of House Velaryon, a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen, “The Sea Snake,” is the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros. He built his house into a powerful seat that is even richer than the Lannisters and that claims the largest navy in the world.

Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon. A dragonrider and wife to Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Queen Who Never Was” was passed over as heir to the throne at the Great Council because the realm favored her cousin, Viserys, simply for being male.

Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, who loyally and faithfully serves both his king and his realm. As the Hand sees it, the greatest threat to the realm is the king’s brother, Daemon, and his position as heir to the throne.

Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria. She came to Westeros with nothing, sold more times than she can recall, and could have wilted…but instead she rose to become the most trusted — and most unlikely — ally of Prince Daemon Targaryen, the heir to the throne.

They are joining previously announced actors such as Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Matt Smith.

Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen. Viserys was chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy, but as we’ve learned from Game of Thrones, good men do not necessarily make for great kings.

Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower. She’s the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.

Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The king’s first-born child. She is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything…but she was not born a man.

Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen. The younger brother of King Viserys and heir to the throne, Daemon is a peerless warrior and a dragonrider who possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air…

‘The Last of Us’: HBO Series Is A ‘Game of Thrones’ Reunion With Pedro Pascal & Bella Ramsey Nabbing Lead Roles

Despite previous casting rumors for The Last of Us, Deadline has revealed that HBO has hired Game of Thrones alumni Pedro Pascal as Joel and The Hollywood Reporter adding that fellow Thrones actress Bella Ramsey for the role of Ellie. Based on the Naughty Dog video game, The Last of Us focuses on Joel and his young companion Ellie has they navigate a post-apocalypse United States.

Twenty years after a fungal infection obliterated most of the U.S. population and turned the victims into infected monstrosities, Joel is tasked with escorting Ellie to the Fireflies to help reverse engineer a cure. However, this isnt easy for either of them, since Joel has been left almost permanently bitter after the death of his daughter, and Ellie is distrusting of him.

The series is being developed by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

Pedro Pascal is the lead of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and his commitments to The Last of Us likely explains why Season 3 is seemingly going to be delayed. The Book of Boba Fett is reportedly shooting in California and Ewan McGregor confirmed Obi-Wan Kenobi will begin shooting there in late spring.

Deadline also pointing out that Pedro will be making the HBO series before moving on to The Mandalorian, however, it’s unknown when Lucasfilm will start shooting or if they’ll start without him.

He will continue on the Star Wars series, where he is used sparingly because of the nature of his character, though The Last Of Us has him in first position.

Lucasfilm just announced they had fired actress Gina Carano for an antisemitic post on social media and pausing production for a little bit might be a good call.
