‘She-Hulk’: ‘Lovecraft Country’s Elena Albanese Confirmed As Production Designer

The Ronin can confirm that Elena Albanese is indeed working on Marvel’s She-Hulk as the show’s production designer. Elena’s previous credits as an art director includes Captain Marvel, HBO’s Lovecraft Country, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2, and Netflix’s Ozark.

She-Hulk is the heroic alter-ego of defense lawyer Jennifer Walters, who after a blood transfusion develops her own Hulk powers. The series has Rick & Morty’s Jessica Gao as the head writer which shouldn’t surprise people they’re aiming for a comedic bend and will also explore Walters’ job as a lawyer defending various heroes/villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The 10-episode series will be directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia.

Filming is underway in Atlanta, Georgia under the working title Clover with a cast that consists of Emmy-winner Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk, Mark Ruffalo is officially returning to play Jennifer’s cousin Bruce Banner aka Hulk, Tim Roth is finally back as Incredible Hulk villain Emil Blonsky aka Abomination, Renee Elise Goldsberry as Amelia, and Ginger Gonzaga.

I wouldn’t be terribly shocked if William Hurt’s Thunderbolt Ross or Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter made appearances.

Other live-action Marvel shows on the horizon include Loki, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, Ironheart, Ryan Coolger’s Wakanda series, and a spinoff featuring Hawkeye’s Echo. Loki is set to release on June 9, 2021, moving to Wednesdays instead of Fridays.

Marvel Studios will debut She-Hulk on Disney+ in 2022.

Jon Favreau Confirmed To Showrun ‘Rangers of The New Republic’

The Ronin can now confirm that executive producer Jon Favreau is going to be the showrunner on the Star Wars series Rangers of The New Republic. While both Jon and Dave Filoni were originally announced in December as creators and executive producers on The Mandalorian spinoff, a showrunner wasn’t named. I’ve learned that the bulk of the work is going to land on Favreau’s shoulders which isn’t terribly surprising as he was previously the showrunner on last two seasons of The Mandalorian.

Rangers of The New Republic as revealed by Kathy Kennedy takes place in the same timeline of The Mandalorian and will likely include some characters we’ve already been introduced to. It’s possible that Gina Carano’s Cara Dune was wanted for a leading role in the show before she was fired by Lucasfilm.

There was a chance Jon and Dave could have outsourced the showrunner position given how many shows were announced back in December and Season 3 of The Mandalorian seemingly still hasn’t started production. Favreau is most likely going to continue his role as showrunner with Season 3.

It’s still unclear what the pecking order is with The Book of Boba Fett as Jon, Dave, and Robert Rodriguez are all executive producing but we should start learning more information about the series in the coming months. Rogue One’s Tony Gilroy took over as the showrunner on the Andor series and Army of The Dead’s Joby Harold is the showrunner on Obi-Wan Kenobi. Dave Filoni is assumed to be the showrunner of the Ahsoka series.

The Book of Boba Fett is the next series to air on Disney+ this December. Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi are currently filming in different countries. There are still plans to shoot Season 3 of The Mandalorian at some point but Pedro Pascal is going to be busy this summer shooting HBO’s The Last of Us in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

‘Andor’: The Shoretroopers From ‘Rogue One’ Returning & Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor Spotted In Set Photos

The Book of Boba Fett and Andor are the next installments of Lucasfilm’s live-action Star Wars projects that will be airing exclusively on Disney+, both are apparently still shooting as Obi-Wan Kenobi just started in California. Andor is said to be skewing more in the realm of a spy thriller and could end up getting multiple seasons similar to The Mandalorian allowing them to explore this fantastic Rogue One corner of the universe.

Some photos from the set of Andor In England have made their way online and confirm that the Shoretroopers, introduced in Rogue One: A Story Story, will be making their return on the show. that takes place five years before the events of Rogue One. The well-designed troopers had previously appeared briefly on Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

You check out some of those set photos making the rounds at Making Star Wars.

Joining Diego Luna will be Adria Arjona (Morbius), Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Stellan Skarsgard (Thor, Dune, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Fiona Shaw, and Kyle Soller. Originally, Alan Tudyk was announced to reprise his role as the smart-mouthed droid K-2SO, but had recently revealed to Collider that he was unlikely going to be involved with Season 1 due to changes made by Tony Gilory when he joined the project and rewriting episodes. He also inadvertently teased Andor would be getting multiple seasons.

TUDYK: “They’re shooting it right now, I’m not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I’ll end up in there.I’m going to be in the show. It’s just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn’t involve K-2SO until later on… I can’t be too specific, but I can definitely say that I’m not going to be in the first season.”

Given the show’s setting is five years before Rogue One, this could allow them to cover multiple seasons exploring the Rebellion spy.

Toby Haynes (Sherlock, Doctor Who, Utopia, Black Mirror) will be directing with a writing team that includes Tony Gilroy (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Beau Willimon (House of Cards), and Stephen Schiff (The Americans).

Andor will debut on Disney+ sometime in 2022.

‘Ms. Marvel’: New Set Photos Reveal Kamala Khan’s Comic Book Accurate Costume

As filming on Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel continues in Atlanta, Georgia, some new set photos had just been released by tabloid outlet Just Jared that feature Canadian actress Iman Vellani as her character Kamala Khan wearing her Ms. Marvel costume. This would be the first time the young actor has been spotted wearing the costume and should get fans excited for her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut later this year.

Below is a link to Just Jared’s photos.

Ms. Marvel is just one part of Marvel’s plans to boost the amount of diverse characters in the MCU alongside bringing together a more cohesive and interwoven connection between their films and television shows. Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American teen living in New Jersey with her Muslim family, making her one of the youngest superheroes to lead her own project. In the comics, Kamala is a huge Captain Marvel fan and develops her own superpowers connected to being an inhuman, it’s unconfirmed if we’ll end up seeing a rebooted version of The Inhumans anytime soon after an unsuccessful series attempt at ABC and Marvel Television.

However, it’s already been announced that Iman will be starring with Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in Captain Marvel 2, directed by Candyman’s Nia DaCosta. Seeing her character make the jump to the films sooner rather than later. There is a strong possibility that we might see a direct connection between the events of Captain Marvel 2 and the Skrull event series Secret Invasion, as both projects will be filming in the United Kingdom around the same time.

As mention at the top, Ms. Marvel will debut in late 2021 on Disney+ just like the Hawkeye series, baring any further delays that could push both shows into 2022. The next big live-action series from Marvel heading to the streaming service is Loki starting on June 11.

Back in December, Marvel Studios revealed this sizzle-footage for the series.

‘Secret Invasion’: Irish Actor Killian Scott In Talks For Undisclosed Role In Disney+ Series

The United Kingdom is becoming a new hub for Marvel Studios projects and the latest one on the horizon is their Secret Invasion series that will see the Skrull invasion of Earth, but unlikely will be a direct adaptation of the comic book incarnation. Marvel is assembling a very solid cast for the show that will be led by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos with new additions such as Oscar-winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite, Hot Fuzz, The Crown), four-time Emmy nominee Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story), and Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night In Miami, Peaky Blinders) said to be playing a villain.

Another actor seemingly has joined the Marvel Studios event as Deadline reports that Irish actor Killian Scott is in talks for unknown role in the Disney+ series. Scott’s credits include Dublin Murders, Damnation, Ripper Street, Calvary, and ’71.

There is an expectation that the show will have a direct connection to Nia DaCosta’s Captain Marvel 2, giving the impression that actresses Brie Larson (plays Carol Danvers), Teyonah Parris (plays Monica Rambeau), and Iman Vellani (plays Kamala Khan) appearing in Secret Invasion alongside other established MCU actors.

We are still waiting on announcements concerning a director as the series is being written by Kyle Bradstreet.

Secret Invasion is said to begin filming this fall and will likely debut on Disney+ sometime in late 2022.

Other characters that are expected to be cast in this HBO Max series include Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, Alan Scott, Sinestro, and Kilowog.

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’: Ewan McGregor Teases Lightsaber Fights & Comments On Young Luke Skywalker Showing Up

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has had a long journey originally designed to be a feature film similar to Rogue One and Solo until Lucasfilm pumped the breaks then pivoted to a series that would be directed by Deborah Chow. Ewan McGregor was officially confirmed to return to the Kenobi role alongside other prequel actors including Hayden Christensen playing Darth Vader.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Indira Varma, Kumail Nanjiani, Sung Kang, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Benny Safdie, Rupert Friend, Joel Edgerton, Moses Ingram, Bonnie Piesse, and Simone Kessell. Joel and Bonnie reprising their prequel roles of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. A huge sign we’ll be seeing a young Luke Skywalker after the character returned for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Mandalorian Season 2 finale.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ewan McGregor says that photography hasn’t started but has been doing screen tests with other actors, and teased it could be for young Luke Skywalker.

While principal photography has not yet commenced, McGregor says he “has done some screen tests with Deborah and other people, and I can see that she is a really, really good director.” Might some of those screen tests be with a young Luke Skywalker? He flashes that famous Ewan McGregor grin. “That’s very possible,” he says. “I don’t know.”

He also hinted that he’s been training hard for future lightsaber battles in the show after previous teases that we’ll see the series tackle other locations other than Tatooine. Suggesting we might not being seeing the boring hermit wondering the desert for the entire run of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

MCGREGOR: “For months, we’ve been doing these monster, two-and-a-half-hour sessions of sword fights and hand-to-hand stuff.”

Kenobi will have 6-episodes and debut on Disney+ sometime in 2022.

‘Moon Knight’: ‘No Time To Die’ Stunt Coordinator Olivier Schneider Confirmed For Disney+ Series

The Ronin can confirm that stunt coordinator Olivier Schneider will indeed be working on Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector. Olivier is likely best known for his work on the Bond franchise being the supervising stunt coordinator on Daniel Craig’s No Time To Die and the fight coordinator on Spectre. His other credits include Fast & Furious 6, Liam Neeson’s Taken, the French gangster flick A Prophet, Safe House, and The Rhythm Section.

Moon Knight, aka Marc Spector, a mercenary who has numerous alter egos — cabbie Jake Lockley and millionaire playboy Steven Grant — in order to better fight the criminal underworld. But later he was established as being a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Most recently, the character was a consultant who dresses in all-white and goes by the name Mr. Knight.

Olivier has been hinting to his involvement via Instagram posts and is currently in Budapest preparing for the show.

You’ve likely watched the behind the scenes footage of Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac training for the series, which should give you an idea how action-focused it will be. The directing team consists of Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead with a supporting cast that includes May Calamawy as the female lead and Ethan Hawke reportedly playing the villain. More casting announcements are expected to be made in the coming weeks and months.

Moon Knight will be shooting in both Budapest, Hungary and the United Kingdom under the working title Good Faith, and the 6-episode run is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2022.

Marvel’s ‘Loki’ Series Will Spend Time Filming In The United Kingdom

The Ronin has learned that Marvel Studios is expected to shoot something related to the upcoming Loki series in the United Kingdom in the near future. However, it’s unknown if this will be for the first season of the Disney+ series, brief reshoot, shooting a simple end credit scene as seen in the last two Marvel series or if Season 2 will be moving from Atlanta to London.

Unlike the previous two projects, WandaVision and Falcon & The Winter Soldier, there have been reports that Season 1 writer Michael Waldron would be returning for a second season in some capacity and would suggest we are indeed getting Season 2 of Loki. It’s unknown if director Kate Herron would be returning. If Marvel moved Season 2 to the United Kingdom, it would be a slightly more comfortable situation and accommodating as a lot of the people working on the show are British.

Marvel Studios has recently made a big push to have many of their projects film in the United Kingdom including Black Widow, Eternals, and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. The studio is also planning to have Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, Captain Marvel 2, Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, and Guardians of The Galaxy 3 shoot in the United Kingdom as well.

Tom Hiddleston is currently in the United Kingdom shooting another series for Apple TV+ called The Essex Serpent.

Season 1 of Loki will debut on Disney+ on June 11, 2021.

LOKI – Picking up immediately after Loki steals the Tesseract (again), he finds himself called before the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space, forced to answer for his crimes against the timeline and given a choice: face deletion from reality or assist in catching an even greater threat.

‘Ironheart’: Marvel Studios Hires ‘Snowpiercer’s Chinaka Hodge As Head Writer & Will Have A 6-Episode Run On Disney+

Marvel Studios has made a huge impact with their first two entries in the MCU’s live-action series at Disney+ as both WandaVision and Falcon & Winter Soldier seemed to pull-in an impressive amount of eyeballs. Either leading fans to become delighted with Kathyn Hahn’s wonderfully charismatic Agnes aka Agatha Harkness or in the case of John Walker root against him.

The studio has a steady stream of new shows coming soon with Loki, Ms. Marvel, and Hawkeye on deck for release in 2021. But more are in various stages of development including the series Ironheart that will have Dominique Thorne set in the role of Riri Williams, a child genius that is able to build her own armor suit similar to Tony Stark’s Iron Man.

Variety is reporting that Marvel has hired Chinaka Hodge as the head writer of Ironheart, after previously working as a staff writer on the TNT series Snowpiercer, a prequel to the film that was directed by Parasite’s Bong Joon-ho and based on a French graphic novel (first published in 1982) created by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette.

The Hollywood Reporter adding that Ironheart will land 6-episodes just like Falcon & Winter Soldier and that the studio hopes to get the writer’s room running by next month.

Thorne’s Riri Williams could very well have a connection to the upcoming series Armor Wars due to the technology involved with building any armor. Armor Wars sees Don Cheadle’s War Machine tracking down stolen Stark-tech that hits the black market, potentially because of Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer and the Power Broker. There has been fan speculation that Williams could end up joining a growing roster of the Young Avengers, although, Marvel hasn’t announced those plans officially.

Other shows coming in 2022 and beyond includes She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Moon Knight, a series from Ryan Coogler connected to Wakanda, and a Hawkeye spinoff focused on the new MCU character Echo.
