Lady Gaga Also Takes A Role In Brad Pitt’s ‘Bullet Train’

Collider has reported on yet another addition to the cast of Sony Pictures’ upcoming assassin flick Bullet Train. They say that Oscar nominee Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born, Machete Kills) is set to take a smaller role in the film from Atomic Blonde and John Wick director David Leitch.

Bullet Train focuses on a group of assassins on a Japanese bullet train with varying motivations to be there. What role Gaga is playing isn’t known at this time. She is also leading Ridley Scott’s next film Gucci, a fashion industry crime thriller that doesn’t begin shooting in Italy until March-April.

The cast that consists of recent Oscar winner Brad Pitt (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Joey King (The Dark Knight Rises), Andrew Koji (G.I. Joe Origins: Snake Eyes), Michael Shannon (Knives Out, Man of Steel), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla, Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron), Brian Tyree Henry (Godzilla vs Kong, Widows, Joker, Eternals), Masi Oka (Heroes), and Zazie Beetz (Joker, Deadpool 2).

It’ll be interesting to see if Sony is attempting to make a standalone film here or attempting more of a John Wick level franchise led by Pitt.

Filming will take place in Los Angeles, California and Sony hasn’t given Bullet Train a release date.

Margot Robbie Comments On Involvement With Disney’s ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’ Franchise – “We’re Really Excited About The Prospect”

I first reported back in August 2018 that Disney was looking to kick the tires of the Pirates franchise for a sixth untitled installment which could possibly move away from Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow. Disney then hired a handful of screenwriters to tackle Pirates of The Caribbean 6 which was said to be a reboot. Most recently writers Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin (Chernobyl, The Last of Us) had been hired by the studio to work on the project’s script.

Over the summer it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Aussie actress Margot Robbie and her Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson might be reuniting for a second Pirates project that would see Robbie attached for the lead role.

This week Margot Robbie (The Suicide Squad, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) is making the press rounds to promote her upcoming film Dreamland and while speaking with Josh Horowitz on his podcast Happy Sad Confused revealed Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl is one of her comfort films along with a brief comment on the report she is being considered for a role in a new movie from Disney.

HOROWITZ: There is talk you may be involved with a future Pirates film…

ROBBIE: “Wait and see. Early days, early days, I shan’t say anymore.”

Margot also revealed to Collider that she will not be producing the film and that while development seems to be happening at the moment, it doesn’t sound like a done deal at Disney.

ROBBIE: “A lot of girl power. No, it’s too early to talk about it…I’m not a producer on Pirates so I’ll sit back and wait for the process…I don’t have to stress about it. But no, we’re really excited about the prospect of adding, obviously, a very key female element to that world.”

If you’re not familiar with updates at theme parks concerning Pirates of The Caribbean they’ve revamped the character Redd, who is now a female pirate at the park. Redd is not only part of the ride but also had her own park character as well. She seems like a strong contender for the role that Disney is looking place Robbie in.

Johnny Depp was recently forcibly removed from the Fantastic Beasts franchise by Warner Bros. and could possibly be replaced with Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). There has been expectations that Johnny will not reprise the iconic pirate in either of these two projects but hasn’t been made official.

Daisy Ridley Sounds Hesitant To Continue Rey’s Journey After ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ – “I Just Feel Like That Was Rey’s Perfect Ending”

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley recently spoke with IGN to help promote her upcoming action film Chaos Walking, co-starring Tom Holland, revealing that she isn’t terribly keen on reprising Rey Skywalker in either future films or a streaming series. Suggesting they pretty much left her in a good place at the end Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Daisy seems happy with how it all ended.

RIDLEY: “I think for me the beauty of Episode IX is it ends with such hope and such potential. I just feel like that was Rey’s perfect ending. The big battle was in Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. I think really she’s probably running around the forest somewhere having a great time [following the events of The Rise of Skywalker].”

“I feel totally, totally satisfied with how that story finished. I just don’t know what else she could do that I didn’t have to do. Also, there are so many amazing characters in Star Wars, that it’s sort of an amazing thing. I was watching the new episode of Mandalorian, and it’s just like the places it can go beyond even where it is now is so exciting.”

Considering the brutal harassment Ridley got from “fans” alongside co-stars John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran it’s no wonder that she’d rather just move on with her acting career. It’s also worth mentioning that Lucasfilm hasn’t given any signs they even want to continue the Rey Skywalker Saga in live-action form anytime soon. Instead, they seem to be focusing on television for the moment with brand new films on the horizon that most likely will move away from the Skywalker timeline altogether.

John Boyega has given less fluffy answers on the topic of a potential return to the franchise feeling like Finn was mistreated in the subsequent films and dismissing the idea of reprising the character for a live-action series on Disney+ which is understandable.

‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Apparently Releasing Christmas Day On Both HBO Max and In Traditional Theaters

It looks like WarnerMedia has finally made a final decision concerning the release of Wonder Woman 1984 as they’ll both release on HBO Max (no extra charge for some reason) and theatrically on December 25th.

It’s worth noting that the original video this image was from captured from on YouTube has since been switched to private.

To me, this sounds like Warner Bros. giving up on a return from the film and looking to instead bolster subscriptions to HBO Max. However, it’s possible that this video has been set to private because the studio hasn’t decided on what they’re doing or that HBO Max addition isn’t even happening.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter is backing up the HBO Max tidbit.

My concern is that December is expected to look even worse than November when it comes to the pandemic (less likely to turn any sort of profit via box office sales) and not charging an extra fee on HBO Max is essentially giving away a $200 million blockbuster, which sounds like an insane business tactic.

Warner Bros. releasing Tenet back on September 3rd in U.S. and August 26th in Canada led to extremely poor domestic turnout and it’ll be shocking if the $200+ million budgeted action film ends up making the a profit when the dust settles as it’s only managed to earn $353.7 million worldwide with only $56.3 million coming from domestic box office.

WONDER WOMAN 1984 – Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah. With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, “Wonder Woman 1984” is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking “Wonder Woman,” which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office. The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.
